WIN A DOUBLE PASS TO OZ COMIC-CON MELBOURNE

The Melbourne Oz Comic-Con is on in two weeks, which, if it is anything like the Adelaide event, means that’s just enough time to start sorting out your costume, check over the timetable of events, and brush up on your geek trivia, because there is a high chance you will be tested.

Consisting of stalls, panels and special events, the event is essentially all about pop culture, ranging from film and television (with a focus on sci-fi) anime, comic books, gaming and more. It is also just a great opportunity to completely nerd out in good company. Possibly while wearing an Amy Pond costume.

Adelaide’s Oz Comic-Con attracted over 18 000 attendees, with guests including Sean Astin and Jewel Staite (whose panels were so packed it was standing room only).

This time round the guest list is headed by Stan Lee and Sir Patrick Stewart, and includes Julie Benz (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Roswell, Dexter) Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones), Sean Maher (Firefly, Serenity) and Armin Shimerman (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine). The full list can be found here.

In between the panels and signings there will be cosplay competitions and comic book and anime artists. Also, for the first time in Australia, aspiring comic creators will have the opportunity to submit their work for professional review with Scott Allie (Dark Horse Comics, Senior Managing Editor).

In preparation for this event, we are running a caption competition to give away one weekend double pass (two tickets for Saturday, two tickets for Sunday, with each adult ticket allowing a child under 12 to get in for free). To enter visit our Facebook page and follow the instructions there. Entries close 5pm on Tuesday the 26th of June.

Anyways, get cracking. Tardis costumes don’t make themselves.

Oz Comic-Con Melbourne is on from 9am to 6pm Saturday June 30th and Sunday July 1st at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre.  Tickets are now available online, or for purchase on the door.  Further details and more can be found on the official website
